A collective, not an institution

narsur.com was born out of a simple realization: this ancient sound, which has echoed through the mountains and deserts of Balochistan for centuries, deserves a stage that matches its soul.
We are people who love Nar Sur and want it to last. Between us we record old cassettes before they are lost, transcribe what is on them, track down the lyrics, and put the results somewhere anyone in the world can find them.
Two halves of one job
The Encyclopedia
A digital home for the history of Nar Sur. From documenting the techniques of the Nari and Surri to profiling the legendary masters of the craft, we want to ensure this knowledge is never lost.
The Label
Traditional music shouldn’t just sound “old”. It should sound exceptional. We record and release studio-grade albums that capture the raw, haunting resonance of the throat and flute with modern clarity.
Why any of this matters.
In a fast-changing world, the deep drones of the Dimbirav and the stories of the Surri remind us of where we come from. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the nomadic roots of this music and the global listeners of tomorrow.
Whether you are here to study the technicality of the Algoza or to lose yourself in the stories of love and war, we welcome you to the world of Nar Sur.
